In La
Legua we select and provide
for raw material to the artisans,
being the
merino wool our products
main substance.
In the Patagonia countries is made
the
sheep shearing. The wool fleece
obtained are processed at the wool
industries from Trelew city, where
the "top" bobbins are elaborated.
The
top , as we call it, is
a wool fibre tuft totally clean and
combed. The tufts stay tidy and parallel
between each other, and all of them
have almost the same length. The combing
machine delivers this wool tufts in
a bobbin form, that's why it's called
"Top Bobbin". This process
is made here, in Trelew city. The
wool, ( the common fleece
or top either) is spun by craft, in
a spindle
or a distaff.
We use and combine flat weave, mapuche
weave, and knitting weave,
(two knitting needles or small sticks
and crochet hook).
La Legua
products show interesting textures
through the combination of wool
with other materials. The palette
we use, represents the fields,
the tableland, the desert climate
and the patagonian winds.
We generate our proposal providing
creativity and design to the artisans
knowledge, in this way, we obtain
a collective production.
